CodexBar is a focused macOS 14+ menu bar utility that keeps your AI coding assistant limits visible at all times, so you never ship right into a hard cap again. It tracks session, weekly, and credit usage for Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini, Antigravity, Droid (Factory), Copilot, and z.ai directly from your menu bar.
By reusing existing Safari, Chrome, and Firefox cookies, CodexBar reads your dashboard data without ever storing passwords, and gracefully falls back to local CLI output when cookies are missing. Two stacked bars show live session and weekly consumption with reset countdowns, while a compact menu card surfaces detailed usage, credits, and code review quotas.
Developers can install CodexBar via GitHub Releases or Homebrew, with Sparkle-powered updates for GitHub builds and brew upgrade for cask installs. A bundled codexbar CLI enables CI integration, Linux command-line usage, and automation in scripts. Provider status polling, incident badges, and a WidgetKit snapshot keep your AI coding limits and outages visible across the system.
CodexBar respects macOS security by only requesting Full Disk Access for Safari cookies, Keychain access for tokens, and Files & Folders permissions when provider CLIs need project directory access. With a minimal, Dock-less interface and one status item per provider, it delivers precise AI usage telemetry without cluttering your workspace.
