Herdr is a native, open-source environment for running coding agents that keep working even after you close the window. Built on herdr-core, it lets you orchestrate multiple agents across local and remote machines through real terminals, so long-running reviews, test runs, and scripts continue uninterrupted. Each agent reports whether it’s working, done, or waiting on you, so you always know where your attention is needed.
With Herdr, your agents can reconfigure the interface themselves. Layouts, tabs, themes, keybindings, and sidebar structure all live as plain files in ~/.config/herdr-app, documented via AGENTS.md so agents can safely edit them. Ask an agent to add a new board layout, tweak the theme, or inject a timer into tab mods, and Herdr updates itself without manual tinkering.
Herdr also unifies every machine in one sidebar. Add any SSH-accessible server, VM, or cloud sandbox and see its spaces and agents alongside your local ones. Agents that speak the open OSC 7501 status protocol show live states directly in the UI, while others still run normally in their terminals. Combined, this makes Herdr a powerful hub for multi-agent coding workflows, distributed development, and customizable automation.
