Pinduoduo-style group buying, native to Shopify

What it does
Farabiulder adds group buying to a Shopify store. A customer starts a group on any eligible product and shares an invite link. Every friend who joins moves the group toward its target size, and once the target is reached everyone in the group gets the discounted price.
The part that was hard to build
The failure case, not the discount. If a group doesn't reach its minimum before the deadline, every participant is refunded automatically through Shopify Payments or Stripe. Doing that by hand is miserable enough that no merchant would run the promotion twice โ which is probably why this mechanic never crossed from Asia to Western ecommerce. It was an infrastructure gap, not a demand problem.
Other decisions worth mentioning
Checkout runs through a draft order tied to the specific group participants rather than a discount code. A code leaks โ someone screenshots it and it ends up on a coupon site. A draft order can't be passed around.
It installs as an Online Store 2.0 theme block, so merchants add it without touching theme code, and it adapts to whatever theme they run โ Dawn, Sense, Refresh, Craft and others.
Merchants can run two campaign types: open to anyone, or restricted to customers who have never taken part before, which turns the mechanic into an acquisition channel rather than a discount on existing demand.
Early result
Benalor Jewelry ran one campaign, filled 8 of 10 spots in 8 days, and did $8,070 in revenue with zero ad spend. Their entire channel was Instagram Stories.
