I was really pissed at discord because of its intensive resource use its really noticeable when I play cpu intensive game eg counter strike 2. After finding no real alternative that can use which will use less resources and comes with the basics feature I got really pissed and ended up making this app called Zorium. I also noticed some of my courses uses discord but its it gets real messy so I also added one more kind of server called academic server where teachers can add courses , lectures, course materials', assignments etc. and every course is organized.. Built using tauri windows, Linux and mac application available and uses only 40 mb RAM and less than 1% of cpu Just launched the beta, and I’d really love if a few people could try it out and tell me what’s broken, confusing, or just feels off 😅

What to expect from an ideal product

  1. Uses only 40MB of RAM compared to Discord's heavy resource consumption that can slow down CPU-intensive games like Counter Strike 2
  2. Takes less than 1% of CPU usage so you can game smoothly without performance drops or lag spikes
  3. Built with Tauri framework making it much lighter than Electron-based apps while still providing cross-platform support
  4. Works on Windows, Linux and Mac without the bloated features that make Discord resource-heavy during gaming sessions
  5. Focuses on essential gaming communication features without unnecessary extras that eat up system resources
