MDDock is a desktop Markdown editor and personal knowledge base for macOS, Windows, iPhone and iPad.

Instead of importing notes into a proprietary database, it opens any existing folder of .md files directly, so the same files can be versioned with git or synced through any cloud drive. The editor renders Markdown inline (Typora-style) and includes reading themes, a presenter mode that turns a document into slides, and round-trip conversion with Word, Excel and PowerPoint formats.

Its AI layer indexes every note locally. A sidebar suggests related older notes while writing, and the built-in chat answers questions from the vault itself, citing the exact files each answer comes from. AI chat uses a cloud model with explicit consent; editing, search and the recall index run entirely on-device and need no account.

For developers, MDDock installs agent skills for Claude Code, Cursor and Codex, exposes an MCP server, and ships a terminal UI (mddock / mddock recall), so coding agents can read and search the same notes. A set of free browser-based Markdown tools (preview, convert, export, table of contents, formatter, web capture) is available on the site without sign-up; files are processed locally in the browser.
