Billion Dollar Homepage exists because I love simple internet ideas with a strong mechanic behind them.

The original Million Dollar Homepage was one of those ideas. It was simple, visual, scarce and just strange enough to capture people’s attention.

I wanted to revisit that idea for today’s internet, but not simply copy it. So I added competition. Instead of buying pixels forever, people can outbid each other for the space.

Part of the motivation is curiosity. I want to see what happens when you combine nostalgia, advertising, scarcity and a live marketplace into one public experiment.

And part of it is personal. I’m fascinated by how much one person can now build with modern tools and AI. Billion Dollar Homepage is a chance to test that in public with something fun, slightly ridiculous and hopefully memorable.
