OwlCAD started from outgrowing Tinkercad. Gears, threads and curved profiles were a fight, and changing a dimension after grouping meant rebuilding the part. Fusion 360 solves that, but it's a big install and a lot to learn when you just want to print a bracket.

What it does

• Parametric modeling in the browser. Change any dimension later and the part rebuilds.
• Built for printing. Press, slip and loose fit presets, plus a print check for overhangs, thin walls and watertightness.
• 33 generators for gears, threads, hinges, enclosures, Gridfinity bins and more.
• Real CAD tools when you need them: constrained sketches, push/pull faces, per-edge fillets and chamfers, sweep, loft, assemblies with mates and a BOM.
• OpenSCAD support with a live script editor.
• Files: imports STL, 3MF, OBJ, STEP and OpenSCAD; exports STL, 3MF, OBJ, GLB, STEP, DXF and SVG.

The editor and every export are free, commercial use included, and no account is needed to start. Pro is $12/month or $120/year and adds AI generation (20 credits/month) that produces an editable model rather than a mesh, chat-based edits, and an MCP server for Claude Code, Claude Desktop and Cursor. Classrooms are free.
