What does Melodician help with?

Every other chord site hands you a static picture: six lines, a few dots, nothing else. It shows you where to put your fingers but never what the chord is meant to sound like, so you cannot tell whether what you played was right, or which string is the one buzzing.

Melodician makes every diagram playable. Tap it to strum the whole chord, or tap a single string to hear just that note, which is how you find the string that is muted. The audio is recorded acoustic guitar, served from the site itself, not a synthesised beep.

What is on the site today:

  • 116 guitar chord pages, from the first open shapes a beginner learns to the ones nobody else bothers with, like Edim7 and F9.
  • 329 voicings across those pages, including an easier version of any shape that needs a barre.
  • Finger positions step by step, the mistakes each shape invites, and how to fix them.
  • 190 songs that genuinely use these chords, each next to the real recording, so a chord stops being an abstraction.
  • A left-handed toggle that mirrors every diagram and remembers the setting next time.
  • Clean black and white printing on every page, with the navigation and the player left off the paper.

No account, no email, no signup wall, no popups. Nothing is held back for a sign in. Someone looking up a chord mid-practice has about five seconds of patience and should not spend them on a form.

Guitar is live now. Piano, ukulele and bass are next, using the same diagrams and the same audio.

Built by one person. Each chord is one JSON file that drives its page, its diagrams, its audio and its internal links, so the shapes stay consistent across 116 pages and 1,316 generated images. Song lists are checked against multiple chord charts before they ship, because "this popular song uses this chord" is a factual claim and getting it wrong wastes somebody's practice time.
