Compare car sizes and check if they fit your garage
Measure Mirror Clearance Correctly
Open both mirrors to their normal driving position. On level ground, measure the car at its widest point, usually from the outer edge of one mirror to the other. Use vehicle dimensions from a reliable source only as a cross-check.
Measure the garage opening at the narrowest usable point, including trim, tracks, hinges, and any inward angle. Subtract the car’s mirror-to-mirror width from that opening, then divide the remainder by two to estimate clearance on each side when centered.

More about usable safety margin
Garage fit tools help compare published widths, but your measured opening should control the decision because trim, wall angles, steering error, and folded mirrors can change real clearance.
- Test the route with a spotter at walking speed before relying on the calculated margin.
- Check clearance at mirror height, not only at the floor or door frame.
- If the margin demands perfect centering, treat the fit as impractical for daily use.
